About
Himaymay (pronounced hee-mai-mai) is a Tagalog (Filipino) word meaning fiber/stripping into fibers, careful study/deliberation, grain, and peacefulness/quietude.
Hi! My name is Rufina Caluya and I am a Filipina Fiber Artist who currently lives in Salem, Oregon. I create clothing by hand through knitting, crocheting, and weaving, and most recently sell my hand-spun and hand-dyed yarn sourced from local and small farms located in the United States. I also love to share stories about awesome people making a difference in their own communities and the environment through their business.
I'm a wife to an awesome Hospice Music Therapist, mom to a super cutie but highly rambunctious toddler, and an avid learner of all things DIY and ready to make magic with fiber arts.
My values

I believe in creating meaningful connections with small/local/indie businesses and empowering people. I use, purchase, support yarn and products that are handmade, hand dyed, sustainably, and/or ethically sourced. All of the yarn that I have personally spun and dyed are sourced from Heritage Breeds or Rescue Sheep from local/small farmers. This business strives to be a safe, open and inclusive space. Himaymay Creations does not tolerate exclusionary behavior.

FAQ
Do you provide International delivery?
Update As of June 2021, I ship Domestically and Internationally! Yay! Wix is mostly partnered with USPS (United States Postal Service) and this is the most cost effective option for me as an independent business. Check out USPS Domestic and International rates for approximate shipping fees. I have updated certain shipping rules:
Domestic:
a. First Class Mail - Packages up to 13 oz, ships in 2-5 business days, free shipping if you purchase $55 and up
b. Priority Mail - Packages 70 lbs and under, ships in 2-5 business days, free shipping if you purchase $55 and up
c. Priority Mail Express - Fastest , ships in 1-3 days, free shipping if you purchase $75 and up.
International
a. First Class Package International - Packages up to 4 lbs, ships in 11-20 business days (can vary for other countries), free shipping if you purchase $75 and up
b. Priority Mail International - ships in 6-10 business days, free shipping if you purchase $75 and up
c. Priority Mail Express international - ships 3-5 business days, no free shipping (too expensive for me to cover).
What do you use for shipping and packing?
I believe in "Reduce. Reuse. Recycle". The package will arrive in a compostable shipping mailer that can either I reused, or a new mailer that you can use again to ship things to your loved ones, or dispose of in your home composter. My products are shipped with mailers from noissue.co and betterpackaging.com. It takes a great deal of research on my end to find a sustainable, affordable, and ethical means to ship and package my products. I do not endorse or do paid advertisements with these companies but I support and use any company who upholds the same values and beliefs that I have. Once your order is completed, I ship my items through USPS. In case the your order contains fragile items, I will send them over using a box from USPS. Any plastic that comes with your purchase is re-used and not something I'd personally purchased.
What is your returns policy?
I currently do not offer returns. For items that were damaged during shipping, I would rather send a replacement (this applies to gift items that are made of wood or paper). I do post the details of each item especially the materials. Please check carefully to ensure you do not have any allergies to our knitwear or yarn before purchase. Details also include dimensions of each product. Please check size dimensions before purchase.
Business Location and Hours
Himaymay Creations is not a brick and mortar shop but I operate from Salem, OR.
I work on my knitted products and website everyday except weekends. Producing Fiber Arts can take serious strain on my hands so I make it a point to take scheduled breaks. I will receive orders and messages on weekends but will not respond until the next business day.
Available: Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm
IMPORTANT NOTICE Effective June 14, 2021: I have accepted a full time job at a non profit and my schedule will change. I will update my business hours after further evaluation and will announce a new schedule by June 19, 2021 (Saturday).
